KARIBU (WELCOME) 

Karibu or Welcome is a referral and support program that strives to ensure that Connecticut African immigrant individuals and families, especially those living the Great Bridgeport area, have resources needed to smoothly integrate their new communities.
 
The underlying focus is to provide newcomers a range services that will help their families to secure community's basic needs such as food and clothing, school enrollment, transportation, translation and interpretation, social and medical services referrals, ect... 

Our mandate is to:
  • Welcome newcomers and provide a range of services to help them on their road to self-sufficiency
  • Identify and address challenges associated with duality of cultures.
  • Mobilize and empower Immigrant families to join and achieve common goals.
  • Provide programs and services that promote cross-cultural understanding and address barriers to communication, access and integration.
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for self development within the community
  • Educate and encourage the youth to become active within their families and communities.
  • Network with other service providers with similar goals and objectives
